What a day off! Eight hours of driving and 5 of sightseeing. We saw some of the most awesome country today. A picture says a 1000 words but believe me this is one of those places where pictures do not come close, especially on my little camera. The drive to Milford sound is breath taking, again shown by some picture. When we got there the clouds were low in the sky shrouding the peeks but as the 2.5 hour cruise proceeded the clouds lifted. The boat followed a school of dolphins for at least 15 minutes. There appearance in the fiord is rare and so it was special to see them do flips to our cheers. The excommunicated young male sea lions were interesting too.
Everyone had a great day, the weather was very good for this area which get 28' of rain a year and a drought is no rain for a week.
Tomorrow we tackle the highest road in NZ, the whole group has decided to give it a go, a real test of mental and physical endurance. More on this tomorrow.
